Every ad in a gosponsored slot runs on a maker's own website or app, so we keep the rules short and strict. These rules apply to every slot on every page.
Not allowed
- adult content: Pornography, sexual services, escort ads and sexually explicit products.
- gambling: Casinos, sports betting, poker, lotteries and paid sweepstakes.
- weapons: Firearms, ammunition, explosives and weapon parts or accessories.
- drugs: Recreational drugs, cannabis and CBD, and prescription medicines sold without a prescription.
- crypto token sales or airdrops: Token sales, presales, ICOs and airdrops. Crypto tools that don't sell a token are fine.
- get-rich-quick or MLM schemes: Promises of easy money, pyramid and multi-level marketing schemes.
- malware: Malware, spyware, cracked software, and any address on a Google Web Risk threat list.
- political ads: Ads for candidates, parties, ballot measures or political causes.
- unproven health claims: Products that claim to cure, treat or prevent a condition without evidence.
How ads are checked
When a sponsor drafts an ad, we check the product's address against Google Web Risk and ask an AI model whether the page or the ad falls under a category above.
Anything that clearly does is refused before the sponsor pays. Anything we're unsure about goes to the maker for a manual decision, even when the slot approves sponsors automatically.
Makers can decline or remove any sponsor, and we take down ads that break this policy. Refunds follow the sponsor terms.
Always labeled
Every ad shows a "Sponsored" label. It can't be hidden or removed on any plan.
